Directions by water to NCYC

Approach

There is a privately maintained fixed set of range lights (293° M). The town of Luna Pier water tower lies one mile south-west, and the Consumers Energy Power Plant, with three matching stacks, is 2.5 miles south of that.

Approaching from the East, take a course of 322° M from the Toledo Harbor Light. Deep draft sailors, beware of shallow water off the Monroe Power plant. It is suggested to pass the Monroe Channel outer markers on the East side.

Entrance

The entrance is between two rock breakwaters about 100 feet apart with a dredged depth of 7 feet on a course of 293° M. The south breakwater light is a green strobe, the north breakwater light is a red strobe (much brighter). Deep draft vessels should approach on the range to remain in un-marked dredged channel which extends 500 yards beyond the breakwaters.

Facilities

The guest wall is directly in front of the club on your starboard side as you enter. For transient slip assignment, please make arrangements with the regatta planning committee.

A Little Bit About Our Club:

Address : North Cape Yacht Club 11850 Toledo Beach Rd, La Salle, MI 48145.

Located on the shores of Western Lake Erie, some eight miles north of the Ohio/Michigan border, the North Cape Yacht Club offers its members and their families an appealing clubhouse and facilities, augmented by a deep-water harbor.  The club’s small boat hoists, a boat ramp and large beachfront cater to the needs of skippers of all boat types. The channel entrance is at N41°49′40″, W83°24′31″.

NCYC is a “working club”, with an active membership composed primarily of sailors. The members provide most of the manpower (and womanpower) to maintain the facilities, prepare dinners and to staff regattas and other entertainment functions.

NCYC has been host to several major one-design sailing events through out the years such as Lightning North Americans, Thistle and Interlake Nationals, the Bemis & Smythe Junior Sailing Championships, as well as multiple championship regattas for the Interlake, Highlander, J/105, Snipe, T-10 and Finn classes.  Through the high quality spirit of volunteerism and support of sailing by the members, U.S. Sailing honored North Cape Yacht Club with the award of One-Design Yacht Club of the Year for 2011.
